Advanced Solar Electric generously donated professional installation, electrical work, system design, and balance of system equipment to the Students for Solar Schools Westlake project. CEO Marco Suarez has been instrumental in providing the district and SSS with extensive knowledge of all aspects of a solar install and backing up his support with free installation. Advanced Solar’s commitment to students is also unparalleled. They offer tours, internships,  and arranged a free online monitoring system for Westlake so teachers can use the solar data in their classrooms.

Solar World has helped the Westlake Students for Solar Schools project tremendously thanks to their donation of 16 free panels and balance of system equipment contribution. Solar World is the largest PV manufacturer in America since 1977 and is located a relatively short distance away from Westlake High School. Through their donations, SSS has been able to more than double the size of the initially proposed installation.

Tremco roofing and maintenance manages almost all of the Conejo Valley Unified School Districts’ roofs. Their innovative roofing membrane has almost eliminated the problems of pooling and leaks. Tremco was able to interface with Advanced Solar and the school district regarding the design of the mounting system and penetrations. They generously donated their skill, labor, and materials to make the crucial penetrations that hold the solar panels in place.

ClimatesponsorsThis project got started as a California Climate Champions Greening Project. Since then the program sponsored by the British Council and CA Air Resources Board has been extremely helpful in arranging for publicity and making donations to help get us started.

greenopolisThe Greenopolis Foundation, through Waste Management, awarded Students for Solar Schools with a $250 Grant. The Greenopolis website also allows for SSS to have a group profile where we can link up with other student initiatives.
